INTEGRITY MONITOR CONTRACT COMPLIANCE

FEMA requires contract compliance in public works projects. In New Jersey, Superstorm Sandy prompted the state legislature to enact an “Integrity Monitoring” law to ensure that federal dollars would not fall victim to fraud waste and abuse.

As a Certified Fraud Examiner, Ms. Sirois was appointed as one of the state’s first integrity monitors. From 2015 – 2017, Ms. Sirois served as an independent third party monitoring a $17 million dollar waste water treatment plant recovery project to minimize the opportunities for fraud, waste, and abuse. Of equal significance was the requirement to assure compliance with federal and state law and regulatory requirements.

Good compliance habits are the same in both the public and private sector.
